As the Managing Director of Facilities First, Ben leads a thriving company, one that has experienced phenomenal growth over the past eight years to become a business with $250 million in revenue, 2500 employees, over 700 clients and 120 aged care facilities.
“I had a vision that we could be a facility services company, as opposed to just a cleaning business,” says Ben.
“We had a base and I knew we could convert that into something special and with a family feel to it, a family culture.”
It’s the strong culture of care running through the heart of Facilities First that fills Ben with pride.
It speaks to his deep sense of responsibility, not only for his team but also for the wider community.
“Facilities First is a community in itself,” explains Ben. “We’re made up of a mum and dad workforce; people who live in the local communities. I feel it’s our obligation to give back to those communities and to organisations that are striving so hard to make a difference, whether it be in cancer research, mental health initiatives or our Indigenous Australians. I’m very proud to be involved in those organisations, and it’s something that as a company we will always continue to grow.”
When Ben joined the company as CEO in 2012, his desk was a trestle table in an old garage. Today, from their impressive new offices in Western Sydney, Ben and his team live and breathe their commitment to quality.
Self-assured but always humble Ben can also be defined by his drive and resolve. It’s exactly what you would expect from a guy who starts every day with a 4.30am surf, then goes straight to the office for some quiet time before his team arrives and the work begins.
