The role of Injury Management & Return to Work Advisor exists to manage the businesses worker’s compensation claims and portfolio and assisting injured employees returning back to work.

Key Responsibilities of the role:

  • Direct responsibility for the Underwritten states, also the Statutory states worker’s compensation insurance portfolio.
  • Monitor and proactively manage the worker’s compensation claims and assist with the timely return to work of injured worker’s
  • Identification of Return to Work Plans, also where applicable engage the use of external rehabilitation providers to identify suitable duties and return to work for injured employees.
  • Assist the business with the prevention of injury and early intervention of injury management principles
  • Lodge new worker’s compensation claims with the nominal insurer in each jurisdiction in accordance with relative legislation.
  • To facilitate open communication and understanding by Business Units of their injury management obligations and strategies to reduce claims and injury risk
  • Assist with the reduction in premium nationally and providing information specific to insurance requirements to assist with the calculation of the worker’s compensation premium.
  • Participate in claims reviews with the nominal insurers to manage and monitor individual claims costs to minimise impact on premium
  • The payment of weekly benefits to injured worker’s in consultation with the payroll department, ensuring weekly benefit entitlements are accurate.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Extensive experience in worker’s compensation.
  • Experience working in similar position
  • Ability to prioritise, and work to multiple deadline
  • Highly organised with effective time management
  • Self-starter- ability to work autonomously
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills.

Functional/ Technical Skills & Competencies:

  • Demonstrated leadership skills with ability to build effective and engaged teams
  • Direct involvement in task delivery and a willingness to balance strategy with practical implementation
  • Confident in presenting solutions and continuous improvement initiatives to client representatives
  • Ability to work independently with general direction from leadership
  • Understanding of WHSEQ and compliance requirements
