“Basically, I oversee all the operations of our Victorian health and aged care division. I have a team of four client service managers and one other working for me. I look after operations, payroll, invoicing, contracts management, tendering and human resources issues,” he explains.
“I actually studied applied sciences and while I was at university, I started working part time as a cleaner – and I loved everything about it. I didn’t want a 9 to 5 job working in IT and the flexibility of cleaning really appealed. I especially love being on the road and meeting people, so when I was offered a supervisory role, I jumped at it.”
Rish now has close to 9 years’ experience in the commercial cleaning sector, specialising in sensitive environments such as hospitals. He spent several years with Nationwide Health and Aged Care Services, before Facilities First acquired the company in 2019. Rish seamlessly made the transition over to us and he’s now a valued member of our team.
“I really love what I do. I enjoy meeting people and I really like all of my clients. I’ve known many of them for a long time. The team I work with here is also amazing. I love engaging with them and catching up with everyone on client sites. All of our frontline staff are fantastic.”
Rish is busy inside – and outside – work, and he’s just as likely to be playing cricket as strumming his guitar or heading on a long drive with his partner.
“I do love keeping busy but in the end it’s really always about the people. I have a great team and fantastic clients. Having the chance to talk regularly with our customers and to give them advice on cleaning issues or any support they need, is really satisfying. I love being able to give them a great solution,” he says.
“As long as I have my team and clients, I’m happy.”
